Tucked away in Maroochydore, The Law Artisan Distillery is small in footprint but ambitious in spirit. What they do best is authenticity — clean, precise flavours built on a base spirit of outstanding quality. That clarity allows the botanicals to shine in a way that’s often missing from mass-produced versions.
Maroochy Dry Gin
A fantastic choice for tonic. Fragrant, unsweetened yet carrying a natural sweetness, and unapologetically juniper-forward. It’s refreshing, versatile, and deeply satisfying — exactly what a dry gin should be.
Lemon Myrtle Gin
The stand-out gin. Lively, aromatic, and a reminder of how vibrant a botanical can be when treated with respect. Be sure to request the version made with fresh leaf, not dried — it is brighter and more expressive.
Limoncello
As good as anything I’ve tried in Italy. Bright, zesty, and dangerously moreish — it’s proof that The Law can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best of the Old World when it comes to tradition, while still carving its own identity.
Amaro Tador
A balanced, complex amaro with layers of citrus, native botanicals, native quandong, and native white kunzea. This is one I believe will win accolades far and wide once more people discover it.
Sloe Gin – The Jewel of the Shed
And finally, the best for last. I have not in many years tasted a sloe gin to match this one. Deeply berry-forward, marzipan on the finish, with a subtle herbaceous note from tarragon that lifts it into something quite extraordinary. It is worth making a trip to the town of the black swan just to sip it slowly — and of course, to take a bottle home.
What I did not expect in sleepy Maroochydore, I found in this little shed: world-class spirits.
