The Law Artisan Distillery Wins Double Silver at the 2026 Australian International Spirits Awards
Our Lemon Myrtle Gin has been awarded two Silver Medals at the 2026 Melbourne Royal Australian International Spirits Awards.
“Winning two silver medals in our very first national competition is incredibly encouraging. It tells us we’re on the right path. “ — Joe Riba, Founder & Distiller, The Law Artisan Distillery
These were the first spirits The Law Artisan Distillery has ever entered into a national spirits competition, making the double silver result particularly rewarding.
For any distillery, receiving recognition at one of Australia’s most respected spirits competitions is a significant achievement. For our family-owned artisan distillery in Maroochydore, it marks an important milestone.
Our Lemon Myrtle Gin was entered into two judging categories:
🥈 Silver Medal – Neat Spirit
🥈 Silver Medal – Spirit with Mixer (Tonic)
Receiving silver in both categories confirms what we have always set out to achieve: a gin that is exceptional on its own and equally balanced in a classic gin and tonic.
Serious Distilling. While Having Fun.
The Law Artisan Distillery was founded on a simple idea: produce world-class spirits using traditional methods and, wherever possible, locally grown botanicals.
Every batch is distilled by hand in our Maroochydore distillery.
We don’t use artificial flavours.
We use plants.
Where we can, we grow the plants we need ourselves.
We believe there is no need to resort to synthetic flavourings when nature has already provided everything we need. Every botanical tells its own story. Every leaf, flower, seed and berry brings something unique to a spirit. Everything else is simply an imitation.
We’re endlessly curious. We experiment, we taste, we learn and we keep refining. That’s what serious distilling means to us.
Competitions such as the Melbourne Royal Australian International Spirits Awards are judged independently through blind tasting by experienced industry professionals. Medals cannot be bought or influenced—they are earned solely on the quality of the spirit in the bottle.
That is why these awards mean so much to us.
Why Lemon Myrtle?
Lemon Myrtle is one of Australia’s most remarkable native botanicals.
Better still, it grows almost everywhere on the Sunshine Coast. If you’re observant, you’ll find it beside country roads, in native forests, on farms and in suburban backyards.
It is a local.
Like us.
Rather than treating lemon myrtle as a background botanical, we wanted it to take centre stage. Its bright, sherbet-like citrus character sits beautifully alongside juniper to create a distinctly Australian expression of gin.
This isn’t intended to be a traditional London Dry.
It’s a modern Australian gin that proudly showcases one of our country’s finest native flavours.
The result is a gin that is unmistakably Australian while remaining elegant, balanced and versatile enough to enjoy neat or with your favourite tonic.
Looking Forward
Winning our first competition medals is an exciting milestone, but we hope it is only the beginning.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has visited our distillery, purchased a bottle, attended a tasting, joined one of our events or simply recommended us to a friend.
Every bottle you buy allows an independent artisan distillery to keep experimenting, improving and producing spirits by hand.
We are incredibly grateful for your support and look forward to sharing many more award-winning spirits with you in the years ahead.
